The full name of this country is Republic of Hungary. The country covers an area of 92,966 square kilometers and has a population of about 10,106,000. Hungary is famous for its rich wines and thermal spas just like the country of Belarus . The country is located near about central Europe and has been a member state of European Union since May 1, 2004. The majority of the population is Roman Catholic and the others are Protestant and Jewish. Hungary enjoys a continental climate and has a republic Government. Food is an important aspect of every country and the dishes of Hungary are spicy and flavored.

Tourist Attractions
The capital city Budapest was originally two cities by the name of Buda and Pest on each side of the beautiful Danube River. Buda was the graceful city consisting of the medieval buildings and Pest was the commercial centre. The Galert hill is situated in Buda from where the beautiful city, the river and the mountains can be seen. The fort of Citadella is located on the hill.
Places to visit towards the country side are the exotic plains, beautiful lakes, Baroque towns and horse markets.
The Royal Palace which was bombed out during World War II was reconstructed to form the National Gallery which has collections of Gothic sculpture and modern Hungarian art.
The Historical Museum of Budapest consisting of the archaeological remains of the old city is certainly another location worth visiting.
One of the countries most colorful and oldest cities is Eger has 200 historical monuments which includes the 14- sided Minaret.
Another famous holiday region is Lake Balaton with its shallow waters and sandy beaches.
