Iran, formerly known as Persia, is a south west Asian country that shares a common boundary with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, and Iraq. Believed to be one of the oldest civilizations on earth, the world Iran means 'Land of Aryans'. Settlement in Iran began in early pre-historic times.
