Bhutan is a significant exporter of hydro electricity. The largest and the most important city of Bhutan is Thimpu. It is considered to be one of the isolated countries of the world and has been a monarchy since 1907. The climate of this country changes with the altitude.

Tourist Attractions

Majority of the population of Bhutan resides in Paro and this city has good number of hotels and tourist facilities compared to the other regions. The valleys of Paro are exotic and are worth visiting. The Drudyal Dzong was built in 1647 and is the victorious fortresses. Unfortunately it caught fire years back, but the ruins are still an attractive place to visit.

The Taktsang Monastery is a temple clinging to a granite cliff which is 800m above the valley of Paro. The name of the temple means a tiger's den.
Rinpung Dzong is another fortresses constructed on the heap of jewels. It comprises of the Paro monastic school and the office of the civil administration.
The Ta Dzong is castle shaped and was built in 1651. The Bhutan's National Museum is located here comprising of a collection of art and relics.
