The city of Shamakha, west of Baku in the foothills of the Caucasus, was a principal business center and ancient capital of Shirvan Shas. Seven Domes Royal Mausoleum and a modern carpet-weaving center are the main tourist interests of the city. Sheki located in the west of Baku is said to be one of the oldest settlements in the Caucasus. Tourists come here to visualize the 18th-century summer palace and the fortress built by a local warlord. Shekhi is famous for its silk, which is still produced locally. The bazaars, taverns and the local markets are great tourist attractions of Sheki.
