The official name of this country is Republic of Djibouti and is located in the eastern region of Africa. Djibouti is a small country covering an area of 23,200 square km with a population of 793,000. The government of Djibouti is democratic and gained its independence from France on June 27, 1977. It is a Muslim country and is divided into 5 regions, 15 districts and one city. The economy is largely dependent on service industries and the natural resources of Djibouti are minimal. The country receives less rainfall which results in the production of vegetables and food. The problem of unemployment has been a major issue in this country.
