Burkina Faso is located in Western Africa and is a landlocked country. Six countries surround Burkina Faso and the country covers an area of 274,000 square km with a population of 13,228,000. Previously this country was named the Republic of Upper Volta and then it was renamed as Burkina Faso. It follows a parliamentary system of Government and the climate is tropical with two distinct seasons of rainy and dry. It is considered to be one of the poorest countries of the world.
